Conditions of Membership with PRTO
- Under the Rule 5 (see below) of Perth Region Tourism Organisation Inc. (PRTO), persons or bodies corporate who own a tourism business or tourism service that operates withing the Perth Region, as defined in Rule 2 (see below) are eligible to apply for membership of PRTO.
- It is the owner of the business that becomes the member. The owner may be a sole proprietor, partnership, company, trustee for a trust or other incorporated body (eg local government or government department). If the owner is not a sole proprietor, please nominate a natural person authorised by the owner to act for the owner in contact dealings with PRTO.
- An application for membership by an owner rather than a sole proprietor must authorise and nominate a natural person who will act on behalf of the member when dealing with PRTO. The owner may change its nominated natural person at any time by notifying PRTO in writing.
- Applications for membership received by the CEO of PRTO will be tabled at the next board meeting and will be proposed at that meeting for acceptance as a member. However, the board reserves the right to modify this procedure at any time.
- Upon the Board deciding on the membership application, the CEO will inform the applicant of its decision within fourteen days.
- Attendance at an AGM is not compulsory. If the owner is a sole proprietor, they must attend and vote at AGMs. Proxy voting for sole proprietors is not permitted under the rules of the PRTO.
- Membership operates on a financial year cycle with the annual membership term commencing from the month the membership is approved. For example, if membership commences in April 2019, the membership term will continue till April 2020.
- 2020/2021 Membership is FREE for the remainder of 20/21 financial year.
RULE 2.1 Interpretation of Geographical Area
The Perth Region (the "Region"), in the context of these Rules, shall mean the geographic area of Western Australia which is bounded by the local government municipalities of:

RULE 2.2 Interpretation of Precincts
"Precincts" to which 'Rule 5' (see below) refers shall mean the groups of Local Government municipalities defined and articulated below:

RULE 5 Interpretation of Membership
A person, partnership, trustee or corporation is eligible for membership if the member operates a tourism business or tourism service within the Region. If a member is not a natural person, then the member must nominate a natural person who will act on behalf of the member for the purposes of attending and voting at meetings and voting and nominating in elections to the board.
The principal place of business of a member shall determine which precinct, as defined in Rule 2.2 (see above) the member shall belong for the purposes of nominating and voting in elections to the board.
Members will pay an annual membership fee to the Organisation and the board has the power to resolve from time to time what qualifications a member must have to be exempted from paying the membership fee.
